The Obvious Advocate - End of the Line

This plea is a little late. I’ve already voted. Many of you already have. But, if you’re wavering, let me ask you if the America you’re seeing now is really the America you want to live in? Really.

We’re told not to trust each other. Not to trust democracy i.e., voters will not be fair. Not to trust the FBI, the post office, scientists, doctors, the other party, the other candidates: they’re communists, they should be arrested and locked up. In what countries does this happen? We certainly can’t trust the institution that allows us to know the truth—the free press. The press is “The enemy of the people”—a line out of Hitler’s playbook.

Distrust leads to fear, fear to anger, anger to hate. Hate leads to suffering and violence. We’re being told to fear our neighbors, especially if they’re a different color than you, a different religion. We’re told to fear children that come to us for help. Told to fear people who wear masks or terrorize leaders who propose that masks save people’s lives. We’re told to fear, to be angry, to hate. To fear everything but the two most dangerous things on our planet: the corona virus and climate change. Does this really make sense to you?

It’s not only a monster telling us to fear and hate, but the party that created the monster and enables it. When QNon conspiracy believers start to actually run for public office as Republicans, its got to be the end of the line. If you don’t know what QNon is, it’s a conspiracy theory that Democrats are kidnapping babies, having sex with them, and drinking their blood! We’ve always had fringe, fanatical, crazies hiding under rocks. But they’ve been given permission by our president and the Republican party to crawl out from under and spew their hate. I know there are some Republicans that are horrified by this and the monster that foments it…but no denouncement from the Republican party. The president, of course, sees them in his typical self-centered way saying that they obviously like me, so that’s good. Just as he and the Republican party won’t denounce Nazis and white supremacists.

Is this really the America you want to live in? Or would you prefer to raise children in an America that is, once again, admired. Where we’re welcoming, trust each other and get along? It’s obvious that’s not only not going to happen unless we have a change; it’ll get worse. Please vote!
